The snow peas are insane. They're flowering, they're sprouting, they can barely be contained as they reach for the sky, and clasp onto the tall hedge mustard between them and the fence.
Resistance is futile.
And there are a few pods!
In the shady section, I'm creating a fairy garden, with a little pool and moss and glass stones and pretty ivy. I uncovered some creeping thyme under the dead grass, which helped expand the area. Periwinkle is flourishing here, and descendants of last year's johnny jump-up also sprouted here, to my surprise.
One of the blueberries ripened. I ate it - nice and juicy.
These pansies were started from seed indoors this year.
Last year, I could not get sweet peas to survive long enough to bloom. This year - success!
With more to come very shortly.
When I started working on this year's garden, I almost pulled out last year's rosebush, because it was just sticks and looked awful. My gut instinct said to leave it - not only did it survive, but now it's blooming.
Some random shots:
Charlie does not believe he was meant to be an indoor cat. I do not believe he should roam the garden freely, where there are plants toxic to cats, and also he loves to eat pansies. This is our compromise - a dog play pen, held down by tent stakes. He can eat grass to his heart's content inside of it, but he still thinks he should be allowed to roam freely.
The girls believe that this is as close as they'd like to get to the outside world, as long as I keep cutting grass and bringing it inside for them to eat.
This has nothing to do with gardening, I just thought the sky looked pretty tonight.
